Following the signing of a General Services Agreement between the BC Ministry of Education (MED) and Population Data BC (PopData), MED data may now be accessed by researchers through PopData.
The MED data tracks students’ academic achievements, their schools, and demographic changes over time, for public and private schools across British Columbia at an individual record level, starting in Kindergarten through to graduation.
This data includes information on:
- Student demographics
- Student enrollment in various programs
- Scores on the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) and Provincial Examinations
- Course grades
- Completion rates
- Student Learning Survey responses
- Student Satisfaction Survey (unlinked data)
MED data may be linked to other data sets managed by PopData, and to external data sources where approved by the data provider.
Eligible researchers may apply for access to MED data by completing and submitting a Data Access Request (DAR) through PopData.
