The use of sibling designs in epidemiologic studies has increased significantly over the past few decades. Identifying siblings allow us to examine how the outcomes of an older sibling may affect those of younger siblings, and to adjust for unmeasured confounding. In this webinar, I will present the results of two studies using different siblings-based approaches, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.

Elizabeth Wall WielerElizabeth Wall-Wieler is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University. She uses large linkable administrative databases to examine disparities in health and social outcomes, focusing on maternal and child health, mental health, and the social determinants of health.
