The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), together with a range of provincial partners, established the Provincial Overdose Cohort (ODC) to identify risk factors and trends in health care utilization associated with overdose in order to inform and support overdose response efforts.
A Call for Proposals (https://www.popdata.bc.ca/news/ODC_CFP_Spring_2021) has been issued, inviting researchers interested in accessing ODC data to apply via Population Data BC (PopData).
The webinar will provide a summary of the Cohort and its data, how it was developed and the data sources included. An overview of the data access process will also be included.

Presenters
Chloé Xavier is an Epidemiologist on the Provincial Overdose Cohort at the BCCDC. Chloé has a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto and has experience in Indigenous health, community engagement, food security, and data collection for hard to reach populations.
Melissa Medearis is the Data Management Advisor at PopData. Previously, Melissa was a Data Access Unit Coordinator at PopData, helping researchers’ data access requests go smoothly. Now she manages the usage of the ODC data in collaboration with the BCCDC and other partners. Melissa holds a Master’s in Economics from UBC.
Ana Becerra is the business analyst and project support for the Provincial Overdose Cohort at the BCCDC. Ana holds a business analysis designation from the IIBA and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University. Ana coordinates the data access requests, coordinates the annual Cohort refresh, and updates the Cohort's project documentation.
