Linking data for research: informing policy-making for healthier communities

OUR SERVICES

Data access icon

DATA ACCESS

We provide research access to one of the world's most comprehensive collections of health care, health services and population health data. These data sets include longitudinal, person-specific, de-identified health data on BC's 5.4 million residents, from 1985 forward.

Data linkage icon

DATA LINKAGE

Linkage of data across sectors, such as health, education, early childhood development, workplace and the environment, helps us to understand the complex interplay of influences on human health, well-being and development. The data sets that we manage are linkable to each other and to other data sets, including researcher-collected data, if approved by the data provider.

Secure data storage icon

SECURE DATA STORAGE

We operate one of the most secure data storage centres in Canada. Our Secure Research Environment (SRE) provides a safe, secure place for researchers to conduct their analysis, while ensuring that privacy sensitive data remains protected.

We also offer researchers a data storage option with CaraSpace.

Education and training icon

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Responding to the needs of population health researchers in British Columbia and across Canada, we offer a range of in-person workshops, free online courses and resources, webinars and a Professional Specialization Certificate in Population Health Data Analysis.
